Although Blue Ridge Palliative Care Services was developed out of Blue Ridge Hospice, your trusted community serious illness and end-of-life care provider since 1981, the care our patients receive through Blue Ridge Palliative Care Services is not hospice care.

Palliative care is often confused with hospice, but there are a few distinct differences. Palliative care is for people living with a serious illness at any stage of disease, whether the disease is terminal or not. Patients may receive palliative care and curative treatment simultaneously. Palliative care is a consult service only—medicines and equipment are not provided.
